Sufi Poem

October 26th, 2004

Behold the words of the Qur’an:
"We are closer to you than you are yourself."
Comprehend your relationship with God!
He is closer to us than our own selves.
Yet through ignorance we search for Him
Wandering from door to door.

-Sufi poem

    Salaam Brothers and Sisters:
Please take a moment to look at the website for the recently released book Master of the Jinn: A Sufi Novel, a mystical adventure tale and eloquent portrayal of the Sufi path of Love. You can read an excerpt and reader’s comments.
May Allah (SWT) bless you in this life and the next.

    Ya Haqq,

Salaam Friends: Here is a poem you might enjoy :)

Hear, O darvish, the song of Love
the unending tale of the heart.
    God whispers “Be!” and infinity
    takes eternal flight.
Love commands the darkness to depart,
and the world to arise in light.
Mountains, seas and stars bear witness,
The east wind cries out on the wing.

    La Illaha illa Allah (SWT),
    La Illaha illa Allah (SWT),

    O Sufi, the universe sings.

    wasalam Mahdia,

It’s not actually my poem - but I have to confess I am not sure whose it is.

Given that most Sufi poems are probably well past copyright restriction, I’d say you might be safe to use it.

    Salaam Mahdia and Maryam:
I am the author of Master of the Jinn, and the author of the Sufi poem, which is excerpted from the book. Please feel free to turn the poem into a song. It would be a blessing. There is one other poem in the book you might like also. If you contact me at Irvingk57@aol.com, I will send it to you.
    Ya Haqq,

    Irving

There are way too many Wahhabi-Salafi sites spreading cultic views as it is, they’re not getting free promos at Dervish, that’s for sure.

    Try here instead.

wa ‘alaykumusalam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

I have to confess I don’t know much about the Muslim community in Holland, but I would google “sufi” “tariqa” and the various names like “naqshbandi” “chishti” etc. to see whether there are any organisations near where you live.
