On a more mundane note
I’ve been putting off ringing up about the glucose tolerance test I did to ascertain whether I have the “d” word (diabetes). Apparently half the people in Oz who have it, don’t realise it. There’s a big push for awareness of diabetes at the moment, so everywhere I go I seem to see signs saying how serious diabetes is, and how you’ll have to have feet amputated and stuff.
It took me a month and a half just to get the actual test done, and I asked for them to send me a copy of the results. I’d rather find out by a friendly letter in my mailbox than a voice at the other end of the telephone. I know I still have to talk to the doctor afterwards, but a letter I can digest in the privacy of a darkened room with squinted eyes.
But the results are late so I resorted to ringing the endocrinologist’s office today. Luckily she didn’t have my file to hand. That means, please Mr. Postman, bring me a letter.

salam
i’ll remember you in my duas for the D word. I have wonky PCOS-type issues and hypoglycemia. People don’t understand how much drama is involved, and I hope things work out for you.

Thanks CNCZ!!
And (dum dum di dahhhh) the Doc rang to say I don’t have diabetes yet. Apparently I’m struggling with very high levels of insulin in my blood (seems the opposite of diabetes hah!) which the metformin can help control but woooohooo I dodged the bullet.

My father was diagnosed with it a short time ago after becoming ill. Now since he has had treatment and been clued in on the dietary requirements and things, he has lost some (over)weight, and has more energy than he has had for years.
You are in my duas and i hope things work out ok.

Yeah recently on the telly a local current affairs show had a piece on this hospital that is doing tests to examine if their programme of diet and exercise can get Type II diabetics off their medication and managing their diabetes. They’ve had some success with it too apparently.
Thanks!
