Invisible bike thieves
The video below is from the Neistat Brothers showing how easy it is steal a bike in the middle of busy New York city. The subtext is that nobody cares really, but I think what also contributes to the complete ease in which the bikes can be stolen, is that people aren’t *expecting* a bike thief to just brazenly steal in broad daylight. People think of thieves as skulking in the dark with balaclavas over their heads. Still, it is fascinating.

That is shocking! Thank God I use foot-power, don’t think anyone can steal them…
But I reckon most people would probably naively think the guy probably couldn’t remember his code or lost his key etc. so was taking the time to break his own lock to get his own bike or something. No one would expect someone to be there sawing for six minutes otherwise - but I guess that is the beauty of it eh!?
But the earmuffs and electric power tools? That is a classic lol!

I’m always amazed at how brazen people can be - and am saddened by those people who don’t get involved or question what seems to be a wrong.

Maybe they should have tried it in a balaclava too. I reckon a “thief” in a balaclava would get more attention, EVEN if he were using a key to undo the lock.
