Top 10 world thinkers are Muslim apparently
I’m finding this article a bit strange: Islamic scholar voted world’s No. 1 thinker. The bit that has me puzzled is this:
The top 10 individuals were all Muslim and included two Nobel laureates, the novelist Orhan Pamuk, who is also Turkish, at No 4, and the Iranian human rights lawyer Shirin Ebadi, in 10th.
The poll was organised by the British magazine Prospect and Foreign Policy, a US publication.

Oooops - totally clueless me forgot to provide the link.
Actually it was Fethullah Gulen (and the poll organisers blame his fanbase).
Interesting to see it didn’t make a blip on the radar of Australian news.

Reminds me of when enterprising Turks, um, hijacked I guess is the word I’m looking for, the “Person of the Century” polls for Time Magazine back in 1999. Ataturk was voted not only Person of the Century, but Sportsman of the Century, Artist of the Century and X of the Century in every other category.

Hehehehe, do they have a go on Australian Idol and Big Brother too?

Well, with Australian Idol it’s the megachurches.
There’s always someone from Hillsong or one of the City Life churches in the finalists. Vote-rigging isn’t the only connection between the Gulen kiddies and the megachurches, though. I think those sorts of acts show off the lower middle class roots of both movements. They dream of winning a high profile popularity poll like they dream of owning their own house or tile warehouse some day.
